How to Connect Atlassian, Clio, and OneDrive to Claude or ChatGPT With MCP (2026)

title: How to Connect Atlassian, Clio, and OneDrive to Claude or ChatGPT With MCP (2026) slug: mcp-for-smbs-atlassian-clio-and-onedrive-in-chatgpt-claude date: 2026-05-04 post_type: how-to excerpt: Connect Atlassian, Clio, and OneDrive to Claude or ChatGPT using MCP servers. Step-by-step setup for SMB IT teams and ops leaders.
Lead
An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server bridges your AI assistant and your business data. When you connect MCP servers to Claude or ChatGPT, the models read live data from Jira, Confluence, Clio, and OneDrive without copy-pasting. This guide covers setup for the three systems most SMBs rely on.
Verified against Claude desktop and ChatGPT on 2026-05-04.
Prerequisites
How ScaleIT handles this: See Jira Rescue
- A Claude Pro or ChatGPT Business account (Claude desktop also works).
- Admin or integration access to the services you are connecting.
- A few minutes per service to grant OAuth permissions.
Steps
1. Atlassian (Jira and Confluence)
Atlassian publishes an official cloud-hosted MCP server that requires OAuth and no self-hosting.
In Claude:
- Open → Settings → Integrations.
- Select → Add MCP server → Atlassian.
- Click → Connect and complete the OAuth flow.
- Return to Claude. The connector is now active.
In ChatGPT Business:
- Open → Settings → Developer mode (if available).
- Select → MCP Connectors → Atlassian.
- Click → Connect and approve the scope.
Once connected, ask Claude or ChatGPT: "Summarize my recent Jira tickets" or "Search Confluence for pages about onboarding."
2. Clio (For Legal SMBs)
Clio does not offer an official MCP server, but Zapier MCP and open-source options enable integration.
Via Zapier MCP (Recommended):
- Go to → zapier.com/mcp/clio.
- Click → Connect to Clio and sign in.
- Approve the scope and copy the MCP endpoint URL Zapier generates.
- In Claude → Settings → Integrations → Add custom MCP server.
- Paste the URL and label it "Clio (Zapier MCP)".
- Save and test with "Show my active matters."
Via Open-Source (Oktopeak):
- Go to → github.com/oktopeak/clio-mcp.
- Clone the repo and set environment variables for your Clio API key (obtain from Clio Settings → Integrations → API access).
- Run the server locally or deploy to Heroku/Render.
- In Claude, add the server URL under Settings → Add custom MCP server.
- Test with a Clio query.
Start with read-only scope for your first deployment.
Once connected, ask: "Summarize the Smith matter, including recent time entries" or "List all active matters."
3. OneDrive (Microsoft 365)
Microsoft ships official MCP support for Graph API. The official approach is simplest.
Via Microsoft Graph MCP (Official):
- Visit → learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/mcp-server/get-started for setup.
- In Claude or ChatGPT → Settings → Integrations → Microsoft 365 (or OneDrive).
- Click → Connect and sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Grant the requested delegated permissions (read files, read calendar, etc.).
- Return to Claude or ChatGPT. OneDrive is now accessible.
Via Community Server (Open-source):
- Go to → github.com/ftaricano/mcp-onedrive-sharepoint.
- Clone the repo and follow the README to configure Microsoft Graph credentials.
- Obtain a Client ID and Client Secret from portal.azure.com → Azure Active Directory → App Registrations.
- Run the server locally or deploy to the cloud.
- In Claude, add the server URL under Settings → Add custom MCP server.
Once connected, ask: "Pull pricing data from my master Excel file in OneDrive" or "Summarize the last three contracts."
Verify
After connecting each server, confirm it works:
- Atlassian: Ask "List my three most recent Jira issues" and verify you see real ticket data.
- Clio: Ask "Show me my active matters" and check for live Clio data.
- OneDrive: Ask "List files in my Documents folder" and verify you see real file names.
If a connector returns an error, check that you approved the OAuth scope and have access to the data.
Troubleshooting
"MCP server not found" or "Connection failed"
- Cause: Server URL is incorrect or unreachable.
- Fix: Verify the full URL in Settings (include
http://orhttps://). For cloud servers, check internet access. For self-hosted servers, confirm the server is running.
"Permission denied" or "Unauthorized"
- Cause: OAuth token expired or scope not approved.
- Fix: Disconnect and reconnect the MCP server in Settings. Complete the full OAuth flow again.
"No results" when querying data
- Cause: You lack access to the resource or the query doesn't match your data.
- Fix: Confirm you have viewing rights in the source system. Try a simpler query first.
"Error 401" or "Invalid API key"
- Cause: Service account credentials are missing or expired (self-hosted servers only).
- Fix: Refresh credentials in your
.envfile. Restart the server and reconnect in Claude or ChatGPT.
